Disclaimer
Like Karen James, who wrote this so eloquently (and I use it almost verbatim), I tweet and blog under my real-life identity. I am able to do this because I am both lucky and have been privileged on so many levels. I also try to tweet and blog as my whole, integrated self*. ‘Whole’ meaning that I try not to shy away from saying what I believe even if it is controversial, and ‘integrated’ meaning that my life is not compartmentalized. That is, I wear many hats, and roles often overlap. Because of this, it’s important to say clearly:
Unless stated otherwise, I do not speak for my employer (Colorado State University), or my funding sources (e.g. USDA, NSF). When I tweet and blog, I'm speaking for myself only.
*This great phrase is from Hope Jaren.
